Every week it seems I find a new song which helps me run and gets me mentally ready to work out. Not that I am some elite athlete who needs to get pumped up, but, yes, even average Joes like to get pumped up. Again, for those with A.D.D. and for those who need a good workout/running song, I give you Rage Against the Machine’s “Renegades of Funk”.  P.S. Yes, Rage hates society and everything else. I just like the song because it Rocks.

Onto the pain.

Monday;

Running, Running. Start the week running. Run to Rage Against the Machine, Hair Metal, Eminem and Rocky IV Soundtrack.

Tuesday;

No training. Campbellsport Lions Steak Fry! Help the community, let middle aging body rest a bit.

Wednesday;

Running, Running. Oh, and…..mixed in the miles….intervals of sprinting (leg turnover). Apparently this torture is supposed to make one faster. I bet it does something, because as we all know, anything hard to do often has benefits. Trust the coaching…..wow….sprinting while jogging…OUCH!

Thursday;

TNT Fitness Results; Up at 4, training at 5:15. Some sort of primal movement insanity. Throw balls at wall, resistance things, lift stuff…..you get the idea. 1 hr of heart racing and pouring sweat…..TNT continues to surprise me. Never have I seen the same workout. Eventually it will repeat, which is good, because some of these are killers and, if one needs to gain strength, agility and endurance….yeah. But its painful and worth it.

Friday;

Running, running. After the leg turnovers and TNT the next day. I just ran. I fell apart a bit on this one. It was a short run, but I don’t thing my body was recovered. Slow, I was really slow.

Saturday;

No training….Family Reunion. Found out a cousin of mine did the Tough Mudder in Indiana. He made it through it! Built a lot like me, which is a good sign. Said the Devil’s Beard (obstacle which is about .5 – 1 mile of going under a cargo net, having to lift it above your head as you go) is the worst and that your arms feel like they will fall off. Better work on some shoulder strength stuff. Oh, the “Mud Mile” is pretty terrible as well. WE will need that runner GU stuff. Good to know.

Sunday;

LONG RUN. Longest run of my life. Really needed to psych myself up for this one as I was worried I would gas out. I didn’t. Once again, mind over matter and some Rocky and Rage…….MADE IT.

on to the next week. Will need some more TNT this week. Maybe 3 days this week.

Things I have noticed as I lose pounds and gain muscle;

-Drinking. I have cut it out for the most part. I have a couple drinks a week….I mean come on….I can have a beer here and there. However, after a couple…I AM NEARING INTOXICATION. Very odd.

-Old men like me have groin issues…Running and jumping around like a primate kill the groin.

-Wife says I twitch a lot while I sleep. Likely my body is trying to die or is in shock from the sudden lifestyle change.

-Kale, the green leafy stuff I am supposed to eat, is not really that good. Loaded with good stuff, but it is very “earthy”.
